Sanur was an important place in Balinese history, where the Dutch Army landed an expeditionary force of 2.000 men on September 1906 to start the war with the local king and his followers which was known as 'Puputan' - the fight to the end.
"Le Mayeur" Museum: Located at Sanur Beach, this museum is the place to see Balinese arts and historical items. The museum was built by a Belgian painter who married a Balinese dancer named Ni Polok in 1932.
